Compare headguard shape as well as size
Headguards can cover different areas of the face and head. Read the model’s intended use and compare its openings, fastening and size guidance. A headguard shown on one athlete does not establish how the same size will sit on you.
Try the adjustment while maintaining a clear view for the exercises you perform. The guard should stay in its intended position during controlled movement. Ask your coach which type is permitted for your sessions or event; training and competition rules may differ.
Head protection is one component of a broader equipment list. Check which mouthguard, gloves and other protection your club requires, and continue to follow its training instructions rather than treating equipment as permission for harder contact.
